AFL shows its pay-deal hand to the clubs
Has obtained the AFL's PowerPoint document which alleges the players' push for a $507 million pay increase over the next five years would absorb almost all of the new AFL revenue from the recent broadcast rights deal.Club officials were told the players' request for an alleged 62 per cent increase would only leave between $13 million and $53 million for all other stakeholders.
According to the AFL's figures, that equates to 91- 98 per cent of all new AFL revenue.
The AFL has argued it would be impossible to deliver that amount of money to players without affecting the Auskick program and bumping up ticket prices.
But players' union boss Matt Finnis rejected the claim that its members would do anything to compromise the state of the game or affordability for fans."To claim that players would have the game suffer is misleading and offensive to players because it fails to recognise the contribution and commitment which players make to the growth of this game," Finnis said.
"No matter what the figures and graphs that might be produced can show, I think footy fans recognise that players should share in the growth of the game and that doesn't need to come at the expense of the fans."
Though both parties have hosed down any talk of a player strike, the brinkmanship could jeopardise next year's NAB Cup.
The players have repeatedly claimed they will present a united front when they meet en masse at Crown in Melbourne on Wednesday when they will be briefed on the full extent of the AFL's position and will direct the union on its next move.
The union will specifically take aim at the league's claim that the players' wage push would leave little money for other stakeholders. The association argued the AFL was basing the claim on the $520 million increase in rights rather than the total broadcast revenue of $1.3 billion.
"If the AFL characterises the players' claim as costing $1.3 billion over the next five years, then that would leave a further $3.5 billion, or thereabouts, to shore up the needs and interests of all the other stakeholders," Finnis said.
Andrew was a good ordinary player at North and Hawthorn... players deserve a pay rise, especially those at the bottom end and rookies... I have no problem with a CEO getting remunerated on performance, Andrew has gotten a good media deal and he should be rewarded I don't think his pay should be part of the argument...

Even Super Mario 3D, easily my most-anticipated game of the show, looked disappointing. I saw nothing that erased Sony's powerful PS Vita demonstration from my mind, and to me, the 3DS is looking a lot less desirable than ever. But as you said,

Video: Create a Gameshow Spinner with PowerPoint
What is intriguing for me is that a free web based tool, ScreenR , gave me a tool to record a process and a method to share it with other online educators. Since posting the screencast I have received several tips to improve the process as well as the screencast from @onEnterFrame.
How could you simplify or improve this animation technique? Could you figure out how to add a “Start Spin” button? How about animating so the spinner slows gradually? Use the comments area to link to your screencast improvements and ideas.
