The Finn McMissile Air Hog is a standard car racer. It uses a suction throttle, plastic air skirts and driving wheels to perform standard racecar maneuvers on the ground as well as transition from the ground to the wall in one seamless move. Once it’s on the wall, the suction skirts allow it to race along the wall at a slightly reduced speed.

The car is advertised for ages five and up. However, it’s best that the car is used for the first few times under supervision. Due to the mechanics of this vehicle, it’s easy to damage the car if it is not used correctly. For instance, dirt can easily block the suction throttle or find its way in between the suction skirt and the car.

Finn has ten wheels. The standard four car wheels are more for show and do not actually have any motorized parts. There is one driving wheel positioned on each side of the car, one sits closer to the front wheel while the other sits on the opposite side closer to the back wheel. There are also two driving wheels on the front of the car and two driving wheels on the back of the car that help the car to transition from the floor to the fall.

This Air Hog operates on 6 AA batteries that go inside the remote control. Once they’re in, you’ll have to open up the controller and connect a charge plug from the controller to the bottom of the car. Then you can switch the controller to Charge mode. Although the instructions say to switch it to “CHG”, the actual remote does not have those letters and instead has a lightning bolt. After a few minutes, Finn will be all charged up and ready to go. The controller has your basic two directional toggle switches: the left toggle manages forward and reverse motions and the right toggle manages left and right movements. There is also a TRIM adjustment that helps you to fine tune your vehicle so that it doesn’t veer off to the right or left too much.

When you’re ready to go up a wall, you’ll need to press the WALL button on the front right side of the controller. This activates the suction device at the bottom of the car so that he can drive up from the floor to the wall. Finn can’t drive up standard wall moldings that are typically found at the base of the wall. The car can only transition from the floor to the wall at a perfect 90-degree angle. If one is not available, you’ll need to put a ramp down on the floor.
