HealthPlus expanding service area

HealthPlus of Michigan has expanded its health southeastern Michigan service area maintenance organization, the Flint Township-based insurer said on Thursday. Commercial HMO are now available through the Washtenaw and Wayne counties for employers, increasing the insurer's HMO coverage to 21 counties in Michigan.

Many retailers posted strong sales during the start of the season back in school that cuts deep and sweltering heat in July has led buyers to air-conditioned shopping malls.But traders fear that the momentum will not continue.

Volkswagen of America 's President and Chief Executive Jonathan Browning said the company is still negotiating with the Obama administration on fuel economy standards for 2017-25.

"We still have an ongoing dialogue with the administration in terms of how we believe the policy should be set," Browning said Thursday.

VW also announced management changes: Mark Barnes has been appointed Vice President, Customer Experience Volkswagen, and Frank Trivieri will head sales operations across the enterprise.

12th Annual Quake On The Lake Most Successful - Oakland County

Pontiac, Michigan - 12th annual Quake on the Lake at the weekend was most successful in its history with 35,000 customers for the two-day event. He raised enough money to grant wishes for this year's Rainbow Connection Children's Wish - 8 years of White Lake Township Kyle whose dream is to visit Disney World and 13 years, Sabrina Trojan whose wish is to to Vancouver, British Columbia this fall to see a recording of his show "Supernatural favorites."

"Once again, Quake On The Lake has shown that it is not just a matter of Oakland County as the first events of life, but continues to come through for children at The Rainbow Connection," said County Oakland Executive L. Brooks Patterson.

Ninety race teams from across North America have participated (72 teams and 18 teams, vintage aircraft). Two pilots of Michigan won the national championship titles: Mario Maraldo in its 50th year of the race, won the Grand Prix class and Cal Phipps won the Grand National Hydroplane class.In addition, Michigan's long-time resident Quake on the lac promoter and owner of the boat race, the race teams Royce Richards took first place and third place in the modified 2.5-liter class, led by Andrew Tate, whose family has been involved in the race for four generations. Bert Henderson, Brockville, Ontario, broke the world speed record of the Grand Prix of more than 2 mph to 102 mph in qualifying Saturday. This is the 18th official world record Quake.Three other records were broken, but do not count because they were not on the current record enough.

"With record speeds and attendance, it is clear Quake lake belongs to the winner's circle in the boat race," said Dale Hampshire, Quake Lake on the president.
